Appointment today...

Today, Bill and I went to our appointment with Dr. Stone. Although we were told at our last appointment on February 25th that we would have an ultrasound this time, it didn't happen. As you can imagine, I got a little upset. I haven't seen my baby in 8 weeks (almost 9 weeks) and it would have been more comforting to know everything is developing properly and not leaving things up for assumption. And I suppose Tricare Prime will only allow so many ultrasounds when a patient is referred out to a civilian doctor.

We got to hear the heartbeat though and it was very loud and strong on the doppler. I just love hearing it!

I was going to have to wait until the end of April for the BIG ultrasound but I nipped that in the bud. I asked for the very earliest appointment possible around 20 weeks. She offered to do the ultrasound at St. Francis Medical Center on April 20th at 10:00 a.m. So, I will take what I can get.

I guess I'm a little frustrated because I know of two other ladies due within two weeks of my due date that do know or will know the sex of their baby before April 10th. And here I am having to wait until April 20th.

I know things could be worse but considering the week I've had, I wish the appointment today had gone better than it did.

Guacamole anyone?!

For those of you who have experienced pregnancy, you know the incredible power of suggestion...especially food suggestions. I have the sudden urge to go out, buy an avocado and make some guacamole....yum.

This week, Baby L is growing to the size of an avocado. The cartilage in his/her ears are forming (making storytime much more exciting these days) and the eyebrows, eyelashes, and hair are beginning to grow in. I can hardly wait to see if this baby comes out with dark brown hair (like I did) or bald like my husband (which was shortly followed by strawberry-blonde curls). Time will tell and it's marching along!

And he can bake too! :D

I'm taking this opportunity to brag about my husband and his - get this - BAKING skills. Those who know my husband already have been enlightened about his excellent grilling and cooking skills. So, when my husband came home with carrot cake ingredients and icing I knew I had to see him in action. The final product is rather beautiful and I know it's going to taste ridiculously delicious.

Go honey go!

15 weeks!

Another week, another fruit! This week the baby will grow towards the size of a naval orange. It must be a sign because I can't seem to get enough of an orange, orange juice, etc. Pretty soon, I will be able to feel this baby move! I am expecting to feel something by the end of this month. I hear sometimes it doesn't start until around week 17 or 18. Sooo looking forward to that!

Holy Snow Day!

Well, we returned home from Maryland last night before the snow started falling here. Fort Lee decided to shut down for the day and we looked forward to our first snow day in VA! We ended up with 6 inches! Even Luca went outside (on the railing) to see the snow...and of course, all the birds she would have loved to chase.

Everything here in Central VA is closed. Since they haven't had any substantial snowfall since December 2005 (yes, you are reading that correctly), the roads are just nasty and our development still hasn't been plowed.

Here are some pictures from our day!
