Two Little Peas in a Pod!

This past Saturday I had the pleasure of co-hosting my very good friend Amanda's baby shower. Myself along with 5 other co-conspirators cooked up a party that was very fitting for this Mommy-to-be! Since Amanda is expecting identical twin girls, we knew we had to go all-out for the party and invite all of her good friends and family.

We were SO pleased with the way the shower turned out. We worked countless hours to make this a most special occasion! We got so many compliments from the guests and everyone had a wonderful time. Here are some pictures from the event!

Whoa Baby!

So my wonderful husband and son bought me this Beaba Babyfood Maker for Christmas. I decided this was the evening I would try it out and make some sweet peas for my little sweet pea ;)

It also came with a rubber ice tray so I may freeze the food for up to 3 months....I am seriously WAY too excited about this. Next up....squash!

Relief for Haiti

Okay, so I know that everyone has seen the news stories about the turmoil in Haiti. The images are absolutely devastating and altogether shocking. Even in our economic struggle, there are still so many Americans who wonder what they can do to help these people who have lost everything. In it's text messaging donations campaigning, the American Red Cross has collected over $21 million for the people of Haiti. This money will be going to food, clothing, medical supplies, shelter, etc. in a time when these folks need it the most.

To learn more about how you can donate to this very important cause, please visit the American Red Cross website.

Whether you are able to contribute $2, $5 or even $100, every bit helps.

Manic Monday

Okay, time to start making checklists! T-minus 41 days until we are officially out of VA. And even less days until the movers come to pack and ship our belongings...including my car.

Whomever said, "Oh the Army will pack and ship everything for you? That's really easy" has obviously never moved twice in a year and a half. Or cross country for that matter (Alaska is considered an overseas post assignment). We are trying to map out our route with some help from AAA (thanks Dad Lanasa) and figure out which one will not lead us directly into the path of a snowstorm. Ever seen Idaho in March?!

I just want to get there and be settled already!!

PURPLE PRIDE!

The Baltimore Ravens play the Indianapolis Colts tomorrow in week 2 of the AFC Playoffs! A friend of mine on Facebook posted the following to her wall and I just couldn't pass up posting it here too!

Ravens fans, please bow your head as we pray: Our Flacco- who art in Indianapolis, hallowed be thy name. Thy bowl will come, it will be won, in Miami as it is in the Dome. Give us this Saturday, our weekly win. Give us touchdown passes, but do not let others pass against us. Lead us not into frustration, but deliver us to the Super Bowl. Amen!
GO RAVENS!!

Our hospital visit

We took Dominic to the ER on Sunday afternoon after he had what we think was a seizure. I had just finished feeding him when he started to shake. Not violently, but a medium shake in his legs, torso and head. He then went very limp and unresponsive and then came to smiling and very alert. After some bloodwork was taken (boy, was that awful), we were transferred to a hospital with a full pediatric unit about 30 minutes away. We had a visit from the pediatric neurologist and attending pediatrician. They gave Dom a full examination. The doctors were going to order an EEG but unfortunately if Dominic isn't in the midst of a seizure, there's no way to tell if he's had one or not. Since there is no family history and no physical evidence of a seizure, we were just kept for observation in case he were to have another episode.

Luckily, he did not have another episode and we were released Monday morning. We are going to keep an eye on our little guy for any more problems. He has an appointment tomorrow for a follow-up and to treat a sinus infection I think he has too. He's been sneezing and coughing really badly today. Ugh....here is a pic of our little man in his pediatric gown and grippy socks:
